Division Overview: The Adult Criminal Justice and Treatment Services (ACJS) supports clients who may have struggles related to a substance use disorder. We provide opportunities for clients to rebuild their lives so they can become healthy and self-sufficient. ACJS’ work includes screening and assessments for substance use disorders, placing clients into treatment programs, monitoring and reporting on progress, and providing support including, but not limited to, insurance enrollment, obtaining a state ID, and finding employment resources.


We are currently looking for full-time – Regional Outreach Worker

Starting at $40,000 – contingent upon experience, education, etc. 


Position Summary: This position is responsible for the marketing and outreach enhancement services for the Intermuscular Naloxone Hub. This position will be responsible for processing and preparing online orders for shipping, engaging community stakeholders to educate them on services provided by the IMNH, and attending community events as a representative of TASC and the program.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Implement, coordinate, facilitate, and monitor outreach activities in the regional area of responsibility.
  • Prepare and package overdose kits for distribution, including fulfilling online orders. 
  • Ensure partners are aware of TASC's ability to service the harm reduction community through participation in community events, harm reduction groups, and meetings with community stakeholders –in person and virtually. 
  • Work with TASC area Administrators on developing and identifying opportunities and implementation processes to ensure target populations are identified and engaged. 
  • Prepare, interpret and present reports regarding program operations, evaluation of service, and utilization of resources. 
  • Provide initial and ongoing assessment of community opportunities in targeted areas of the state.
  • Engage community-based organizations and target populations through the State of  Illinois's to orientate them to the distribution hub. 
  • Provide  representation and consultation with other outside professionals to facilitate coordination, collaboration, and cooperation between the agency and the community related to harm reduction services. 
  • Maintain a positive and cohesive working atmosphere by maintaining positive professional relationships with all internal and external colleagues including, but not limited to TASC leadership, co-workers, funding sources, vendors, and clients.
  • Assist with TASC’s harm reduction social media presence, sharing harm reduction information with TASC communication department. 

Requirements

 Our Ideal candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in human services, social work or psychology from an accredited college/university and/or equivalent work experience in the field.
  • Possesses at least three years of program outreach experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently; strong presentation and engagement skills preferred
  • Understand the dynamics of cultural norms when interfacing with various treatment agencies,  organizations, churches, universities, etc. (preferred)
  • Knowledge of best practices in harm reduction, substance use, and recovery support services preferred
  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system
  • Knowledge of computers, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the Internet
  • Ability to communicate effectively (written and oral)
  • Ability to work with a diverse population  
  • Must be available to attend meetings and meet the program's needs throughout the city, counties, or wherever needed (a valid driver's license, current auto insurance, and reliable automotive transportation are required).
