JOB SUMMARY:

The four Assistant Directors for the Office of Student Conduct & Conflict Resolution, in conjunction with the Associate Director and Director, are responsible for the resolution of all student conduct matters, academic and non-academic in nature, arising from incidents that occur on and off University property, and involve individual students or an entire student organization . This includes but is not limited to residence halls, classrooms, neighboring communities surrounding the University, global locations, graduate campuses and off-campus establishments. 


RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

1) Case Management Administration - Hearing Officer: 

Serve as an administrative hearing officer for student conduct matters arising from violations of the Code of Student Conduct not requiring suspension or expulsion from the University.  Impose sanctions up to and including residence hall and dining agreement cancellation and deferred suspension.   Make appropriate referrals for at-risk students. Produce and maintain detailed and accurate records and correspondence relating to conduct cases.  Communicate with parents, affected parties, witnesses and complainants regarding the conduct process, as appropriate.


2) Case Management Administration - Student Conduct Board: 

Serve as an advisor to and oversee the University student conduct board in all aspects of the conduct hearing process for cases that could result in suspension or expulsion from the University.  Recruit, select, train, evaluate and retain student conduct board members.  Review reports of alleged student misconduct referred to the department for resolution, determine alleged violations to the Code of Student Conduct, and notify students.  Conduct pre-hearing meetings with students to advise them of their rights and responsibilities relating to the University conduct board process.  Oversee student conduct board hearings as a hearing administrator.  Produce and maintain detailed and accurate records and correspondence relating to conduct cases referred to the student conduct board. Communicate with parents, affected parties, witnesses and complainants regarding the conduct process, as appropriate.


3) Residential Life, N.U.in, FSL, CSI Consult: 

In conjunction with OSCCR staff, provide training to staff within these offices regarding the conduct process (philosophy, logistics of the administrative hearing, deliberations, sanctions, etc.) Code of Student Conduct and conflict resolution. Review conduct cases with staff and recommend appropriate charges and/or sanctions, when necessary. Advise and consult with staff serving as hearing administrators in enforcing all aspects of the Code of Student Conduct and managing the student conduct hearing process for alleged violations of the Code of Student Conduct or University policies.  Assist in the selection, training and evaluation of staff regarding the conduct process. In addition, Assistant Directors may be asked to oversee a hearing involving a fraternity, sorority or other student organization.


4) Supervision / Miscellaneous: 

Supervise graduate assistant; assist with the supervision of support staff; assist with the annual revision of the Code of Student Conduct; serve on various departmental, divisional and University committees; maintain a database of student conduct files and sanction compliance; recruit, train, evaluate Hearing Advisors; assess aspects of the conduct process in order to preserve intentionality and purposefulness of the program. Design and produce brochures and other publications describing the services provided by the office.  Identify needs of all Northeastern students and ensure office’s initiatives meet those needs.  Alert campus partners of at-risk students when necessary.  Complete projects/other duties as assigned by the Director of the Office Student Conduct & Conflict Resolution


5) University Outreach & Liaison Relationships: 

Coordinate and conduct University-wide programs and training sessions for members of the community in relation to student conduct issues, including but not limited to conflict management and resolution, academic integrity, student ethical development issues, the Code of Student Conduct and conduct process.  Develop, foster and maintain relationships with University departments and personnel having regular contact/interaction with OSCCR.  Such departments include the Office of General Counsel, Public Safety Division, Office of City & Community Affairs, Residential Life, University Health and Counseling Services, WeCare, Office of Gender Equity & Compliance, Office of Prevention & Education at Northeastern, Center for Student Involvement, Off Campus Student Services and A
