Hillcrest Hospital’s 3 West Tower General Surgery Unit is known for their outstanding communication skills and top-quality patient care. This unit cares for adult and geriatric patients undergoing general, breast, gynecology, pancreatic/liver, and urology surgeries. As a New Grad RN, you will participate in a year-long residency program, customized to fit you, your needs and your pace, where you will provide direct nursing care, be paired with a coach that guides you toward success, develop clinical judgement, cultivate excellent communication skills and acquire complex nursing skills.

A caregiver in this position works nights from 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. with every other weekend and holiday requirements.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Participate in a residency core curriculum based on individual learning needs. 
  • Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach. 
  • Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care (acuity of need, patient preference and resource availability). 
  • Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and initiate action to correct, reduce or prevent risk. 
  • Seek supervision, consultation and assistance when unable to perform safely and independently. 
  • Document in patients’ medical records.  

Minimum qualifications for the ideal candidate include:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program)
