Associate Director, Risk Management
Gilead Sciences is seeking an Associate Director, Risk Management to join its Risk Management & Insurance team. The Associate Director will provide counsel, advice, and reporting on a broad spectrum of risk-related issues. The primary responsibility of this position is to lead the continued evolution of Gilead’s casualty insurance programs and associated risk control activities, aimed at minimizing risks to our business. The ideal candidate will be an energetic and motivated self-starter, with significant experience in managing large multinational insurance programs. We are looking for someone that has successfully demonstrated an ability to actively engage and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify, assess, and mitigate a complex set of risks. This position will report to the Director, Risk Management.
This position is based in Foster City, CA and requires on-site attendance at least 3 days per week.
Responsibilities
- Independently manage all aspects of insurance related to casualty risks, including the collection of exposure data, ad-hoc risk analysis, recommendation and placement of insurance or self-insurance program structures, management of claims in partnership with internal and external counsel, and preparation of loss reports
- Identify areas of risk mitigation improvement and make data-supported recommendations that are understandable to a broad range of audiences!
- Provide expert-level assistance in negotiations of insurance and indemnity provisions in contracts.
- Regularly collaborate with various internal stakeholders to minimize risk to Gilead.
