Overview

 

Senior Facility Services Boiler Technician

Full Time, 80 hours Per Pay Period, Day Shift

On-call requirements every 6-8 weeks

Position Summary

Performs or directs general and routine maintenance/repair activities related to Boiler Plant Operations, Water Chemistry and Steam Production. Responsibilities include knowledge of overall hospital plant operations and skills in this specialty area.

Responsibilities

  • Assures complete and proper filing of records and required cost computation of time spent, materials purchased and supplies used for each completed requisition or work order.
  • Organizes and maintains inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies. Recommends purchases for new equipment.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of programs to maintain boiler equipment.
  • Assigns individual tasks, requisitions supplies and equipment, and oversees work of contractors. Trains and guides technicians.
  • Performs routine maintenance, preventative maintenance, repairs, and installations. As well as, providing leadership in this specialty area.
  • Takes the lead role in preparing for and hosting all State Boiler Inspections.
  • Assists in all areas of plant operations as needed.
  • Local travel required.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:           

None specified; will accept any combination of formal education and/or prior work experience sufficient to demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skill and ability needed to perform the essential tasks of the job, typically such as would be equivalent to a high school diploma or GED. Must meet the standards of achievement for any below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.

 

Minimum Experience:         

Two (2) years’ experience in general maintenance, or graduate with certification from a trade school in a maintenance related field. Preference may be given to individuals with experience in hospital plant operations. Individual must complete a Boiler Operator Certification course with a passing score and maintain on-going annual renewal of the certification.

 

Licensure Requirement:      

Must have and maintain a valid Tennessee driver’s license Class D and state mandated minimum insurance coverage. Driving record must meet Covenant Health minimum standards at the date of hire and throughout employment tenure.
