The Red Lion Team is seeking a Machinist II on Weekend shift.

Summary:
Installs, modifies, moves, troubleshoots, repairs and dismantles machinery and equipment according to requisition documentation, layout plans, blueprints or other drawings. Prepares installation site by constructing foundations and aligns and fastens machinery to the foundation using hoists, dollies, rollers, trucks, tools, squares, rules and micrometers. Performs operational tests on newly installed, modified, repaired and moved machinery and equipment to ensure that it meets technical specifications. Fabricates metal parts for prototype equipment based on drawings. Programs PLCs (programmable logic controllers).
Major Position Responsibilities
Position: Machinist II
Schedule: Friday-Sunday 6am-6pm
- Assists with the installation, operation, testing, and adjustment of various types of conventional or automatic machines used to produce precision parts and instruments.
- Fabricates and modifies parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.
- Machines parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.
- Measures, examines, and tests completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications.
Basic Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Vocational/Technical Training Degree and 2-4 years experience
- OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Mathematical skills
- Technical expertise
- Manual dexterity
- Physical Stamina
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Leadership skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree
- Technical Training Preferred
Physical Demands:
- Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities
- Ability to lift up to 45 pounds
- May need to stand for long periods of time
Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery
This position is Safety Sensitive
May be requested to work a different shift
Travel Requirements No or very little travel likely
Other job-specific working conditions: Must be willing to work outside normal business hours as required
