Job Description

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Health Educator, UNLV Student Wellness - Student Counseling and Psychology [R0150993]

ROLE of the POSITION

The Wellness Educator is a student-facing position that maintains a consistent on-site presence within the UNLV Wellness Zone.  The Wellness Educator provides walk-in consultation, as needed, to promote holistic wellness education and assists with resource navigation including those available in the Wellness Zone and across campus.  The Wellness Educator develops, implements, and evaluates a variety of health and mental health programs and initiatives with a focus on alcohol and other drugs, sexual health, mental health awareness, and general wellness. This specialist will utilize evidence-based programming and assess the measurable impact of such wellness programs and training with an overarching goal of providing students with informed-decision making skills that enhance their personal wellness and academic performance. The Wellness Educator collaborates with campus stakeholders to implement a comprehensive approach to promote the health and safety of students. This position also provides oversight and coordination of prevention programming as well as hiring, training, and supervising student workers, interns, and peer educators.

Some evenings and weekends required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires a bachelor’s degree in Health Education/Promotion, Health Communication, Public Health, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and 1 year of experience in health/wellness education or promotion.  Credentials must be obtained prior to the employment start date.  All candidates must pass a background screening.
