Brown Convention Center. This is a permanent part‑time, hourly position with opportunities to work additional sports, music, and entertainment events throughout the year.

Description: Event Staff and Security Officers are responsible for ensuring the safety, comfort, and positive experience of all guests, players, vendors, and employees. This includes maintaining secure access points, providing excellent customer service, and supporting smooth event operations throughout the Pokémon Regional Championship.

 

Pay Range: $12.00 and up/per hour

 

Duties:



Enforce and uphold the integrity of all public, private, and restricted areas within the venue.


Monitor entry and exit points, ensuring only authorized guests, players, staff, and vendors access designated spaces.


Perform routine search and inspection procedures, including bag checks, ticket/credential verification, and screening for prohibited items.


Greet guests with a friendly, professional attitude and provide directions to seating areas, tournament zones, restrooms, and venue services.


Maintain clear and safe access routes for both pedestrian and vehicle walkways.


Assist with line management, crowd flow, and player movement to maintain smooth event operations.


Respond to guest questions, concerns, and complaints in accordance with company policies and event procedures.


Observe and report suspicious behavior, safety hazards, or policy violations to supervisors or venue security.


Support tournament operations by guiding players to match areas and helping maintain schedule flow.


Assist with setup and breakdown of event spaces, signage, stanchions, and equipment as needed.


Provide security escorts for guests, staff, or assets per event requirements.


Maintain a visible presence on the event floor to promote safety, comfort, and a positive guest experience.


Aid in the orderly evacuation of the building during emergencies and follow all safety protocols.


Uphold all venue, company, and Pokémon Organized Play policies throughout the event.


QualificationsQualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The employee must also possess the following qualifications:

High School diploma or GED equivalent
At least 18 years of age
Reliable forms of communication and transportation
LEVEL 2 SECURITY LICENSE (Level II Training & Exam provided for free. All applicants are required to apply, pass exam, submit to fingerprinting, and criminal background check.)

Skills and Abilities:

A strong customer-service attitude and professional appearance
Possess excellent written and oral communication skills
The ability to understand and interpret credentials, documents, signs, rules, policies, and instructions
The ability to communicate effectively with clients, patrons and other employees
The ability to multi-task, cross-train and learn new skills quickly
The ability to remain calm and level-headed under high-pressure situations

Physical Requirements:

Full physical and mental dexterity with the ability to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, hear, see and speak English clearly
The ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time (shift duration)
The ability to lift 25lbs.

Work Environment:

Elevated noise levels. Athletic and musical events can be very loud, and employees must be prepared to be exposed to increased noise levels. Ear plugs are available upon request.
An energetic and fast-paced environment
Crowds (as in lots of people)
Working outdoor venues. Some of the events we work take place outside or in open-air venues and take place rain or shine. Reasonable accommodations are made to assist with employee comfort when necessary (tents, rain ponchos, drinking water, etc.)
Evening and weekend work schedules. Many events take place in the evenings and on the weekends. Flexible availability is required.
