Physical Plant Temporary Summer Worker

Perform a variety of facilities maintenance work to include grounds, painting, farming, electrical, administrative, and carpentry general type duties in support of physical plant summer tasks throughout college-owned facilities. 

Responsibilities: Responsibilities will vary depending on the trades in each department such as Carpentry, Grounds, Farm, Mechanical, Electrical, Paint, and Administrative General duties. 

Building Services/Steam Plant 

Climbing Stairs up to 4 floors
Walking to work assignments
May be exposed to chemicals smells
Exposed to some uncomfortable temps in some buildings
Some outside pressure washing
Must be able to sweep and mop floors 
Use of buffers and vacuums
Lifting, bending required 
Closed shoes

Paint 
Minimum Requirements
Ladder climbing
Stair climbing
Standing
Bending
Able to lift 50 lbs.
Paint smells
Closed shoes
Working in both indoor and outdoor spaces which may include high temperature and dusty conditions.

Farm

Staff are required to wear closed-toed shoes and should dress appropriately for the weather, Outside work
Work can be physically demanding - Applicants must be able to lift 50 lbs.
Standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling required
Experience with or a willingness to learn farm equipment including hand tools, mowers, weedeaters, and loppers preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:  Ability to understand and read written and verbal instructions and follow through.  Ability to interact positively with a wide variety of customers.  Ability to stand for long periods of time.

Working Conditions:  

Indoor and outdoor environment with warm temperatures in the summer time.  Standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, and reaching.  Ability to lift 30 lbs.   Safety gear may be required for work with chemicals and equipment.  Ability to climb multiple stairs.
