The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.

·Perform engineering tasks in support of the APU/HYD engineering group.
·Conduct system tests (software and hardware), collect and analyze data on equipment performance. Troubleshoot equipment/system anomalies.
·Initial assignments will focus on development of  Flight Auxiliary Power Unit / Hydraulic (APU/HYD) systems processing and vehicle launch throughout the full development cycle including requirements development, testing, and operational use.
·Candidates will be required to apply knowledge of technical principles, vehicle processing operations concepts, ground to vehicle interfaces, and vehicle/ground system design and operation. Additional responsibilities in system training, vehicle processing, and launch certification will follow. 
·Candidate will perform engineering work in preparation for assembly, test, processing, and launch of NASA's Space Launch System in support of the Artemis program.
·Candidate will be expected to accomplish testing & operations independently (software and hardware testing), and act as Task Team Leader for assignments involving APU/HYD. 
·Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. 
·Perform other duties as assigned

 

Here's What You'll Need:

 

Level 1 candidates will possess a BS in Engineering (Mechical/Electrical / Software/  Aerospace preferred) or technical equivalent from an accredited engineering school. Additional relevant education may be substituted for a portion of the experience. Aircraft / Spacecraft / Launch Vehicle processing background a plus. Launch console experience a plus. Software development (Unix,Python/C++) experience a plus.

Level 2  candidates require the above education plus at least four years of related work experience.

Level 3 candidates require the above education plus at least 10 years of related work experience  (Prefer experience that is directly related to Aircraft / Spacecraft / Launch Vehicle electrical systems test & processing.)

Physical Requirements

Will be required to climb stairs to access equipment for troubleshooting.
Climbing ladders and platforms will be necessary.
Will be required to wear hearing protection, eye protection and other associated personal protective equipment.
Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing.
Physical requirements are sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures.
Must be able to work in tight confined space areas.


Work Environment

All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and Company safety standards.
Will be required to work inside and outside throughout the test complex.
Position requires daily individual to travel to different areas on site.
Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand is required to access various locations on the facility.
