Summary of the role:
A Technical Project Manager (TPM) is a skilled professional in charge of supervising and ensuring the successful completion of technology-related projects, while maintaining a high standard of quality. The projects are guided by the strategic framework established by TSI-COO-SPR directives.
The role also involves a mix of Amadeus business knowledge, technical expertise, project management skills, and leadership abilities to drive and lead the IT projects by ensuring their deliveries meet specified requirements.
- Technical Expertise: Strong background in IT and deep understanding of the IT technologies and various related topics (e.g cloud architecture, Azure, Kubernetes, Network, Redundancy, Automation, CISO, CI/CD…) and systems relevant to the managed projects. The expertise is key for taking decisions, assess risks and communicate effectively with technical teams.
- Project Management: TPM is responsible for defining project scope, objectives, and deliverables. They create project plans, set timelines and roadmaps, allocate resources, and establish budgets. They also monitor progress, track key performance indicators (KPIs), ensure quality assurance is part of the execution, and manage any changes or issues that arise during the project's lifecycle.
- Stakeholder Communication: Effective communication is crucial for a TPM. They act as a bridge between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders, translating technical jargon into understandable terms. They keep stakeholders informed about project status, risks, and progress, and they ensure that project goals align with the organization's strategic objectives.
- Risk Management: TPM identifies potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them. They are responsible for risk assessment, contingency plans, and problem-solving when issues arise. Their goal is to ensure that projects are completed successfully despite unforeseen challenges.
- Resource Management: TPM allocate and manage the resources required for a project, including personnel, hardware, software (inc. licenses), and budget. They optimize resource utilization to meet project goals efficiently.
- Documentation: TPM maintain comprehensive project documentation, including project plans, status reports, meeting minutes, and change requests. This documentation is vital for project transparency, communication, and knowledge transfer.
- Continuous improvement: a key aspect of TPM responsibilities. Following project completion, TPM frequently carries out post-project assessments to pinpoint lessons learned and opportunities for enhancement. They leverage these insights to refine forthcoming project management procedures and methodologies.
