Position Overview

The Office of Inspector General is seeking to hire a dynamic, organized, detail-oriented Assistant Deputy Inspector General.  The Assistant Deputy Inspector General will be responsible for supervising an investigation team engaged in the support and investigatory operations for the Southern Region.  The Office of Inspector General assists individuals with physical, developmental and/or intellectual disabilities and assists agencies and facilities in prevention efforts by investigating all reports of abuse, neglect and mistreatment in a timely manner, to foster humane, competent, respectful and caring treatment of individuals with disabilities.  The ideal candidate must have prior investigative experience and maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism.

Essential Functions

  • Serves as the Assistant Deputy Inspector General for Southern Regional Investigations of the Office of Inspector General (OIG), with the full scope of processing activities and responsibilities.
  • Serves as full-line supervisor.
  • Develops and maintains effective working relations with agency staff, including the Office of Labor Relations.
  • Speaks on behalf of the Deputy Inspector General with other state agencies, local governments, advisory groups, and working committees.
  • Directs professional staff performing highly complex and specialized studies pertaining to the operations of the Office.
  • Directs, coordinates and supervises planning and operations to ensure efficient and effective utilization of agency resources allocated to the Region.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college. 
  • Requires four (4) years in progressively responsible administrative experience investigating administrative, civil or criminal charges for a public or private organization. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five (5) years of professional experience in the production of case reports in reference to administrative, civil or criminal charges.
  • Five (5) years of professional experience analyzing administrative programs and developing an effective course of action for a public or private organization to ensure organizational policies and procedures are being followed.
