About the role
The Accountant is integral in supporting AIG’s General Insurance Controllership team, with primary
responsibility for operational controlling as it relates to insurance claims disbursements, in close coordination with AIG’s global claims function to timely identify and resolve discrepancies in payments and related suspense activity, ensuring proper cash application and accurate financial reporting of activity.
Key Responsibilities:
• Driving the timely clearance of insurance claims disbursements through subledgers, ensuring cash
is applied properly against claims; leading the Identification, investigation and resolution of
exceptions
• Ensure accurate reporting for both US GAAP and Stat related to cash account lines
• Preparation of key general ledger account reconciliations, formulating and executing action plans
for substantiation/resolution of open items
• Support of quarterly balance sheet analytics on impacted accounts
• Provide surge capacity to the General Insurance Controllership during peak quarterly close periods
• Identify opportunities and contribute to strengthening the control environment and implementing
process improvements
• Support the audit process with external and internal auditors
Qualifications:
• 3+ years of relevant professional experience, particularly in a controllership capacity at
a regulated entity, with a focus on treasury and cash management operations; insurance sector a plus
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
Strong project management and change management capabilities, with a clear desire to be a part
of developing solutions and driving matters to completion
• Strong attention to detail, where accuracy and precision are critical to success
• Systems-technical acumen, with a desire and aptitude to learn and master new financial accounting
and reporting systems
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with an ability to effectively work across teams
• Resilient and tenacious with a propensity to persevere
For positions based in NYC and NJ, the base salary range is $85,000 - $115,000. In addition, the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
