Role Purpose

The Manager, Tax Accounting will also have an important role to play in supporting Corning’s 
efforts to streamline and automate its tax processes and procedures. The company is in the 
process of developing and implementing its overall long-range technology strategy, and this 
individual will be part of the team supporting these efforts.

Key Responsibilities

Calculate the forecasted annual effective tax rate and tracking of discrete items on a quarterly basis to determine global tax expense to be recorded as required under ASC740. This will include managing the global income tax account rollforward and reconciliation process.

Research, document, modeling, and communication of proposed and/or enacted tax legislation and their impact on the global ETR. 

Review of tax packages submitted for material US and foreign legal entities for accuracy. Provide training as needed to ensure accurate and timely completion of these packages. 

Assist with the maintenance of OneSource Tax Provision (OTP), including reconciliations, executive summaries, and continuous process improvements. 

Interface with external auditors (PWC) to support and defend current position, including management of the tax department’s internal controls process and documentation. 

Experiences/Education - Required

•    Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
•    CPA/MST desirable but not required.
•    Minimum of five to eight years of corporate tax experience preferred, including three to 
•    five years of management experience with direct/indirect supervisory experience over 
•    multiple personnel. 
•    Must have extensive experience in ASC 740- Accounting for Income Taxes and SEC 
•    reporting, preferably a combination of public accounting and in-house experience. 
•    This includes experience with consolidating worldwide tax provisions, effective tax 
•    rate analysis, and ASC 740 specialty areas (i.e. purchase accounting, uncertain tax 
•    positions, valuation allowances, etc.). 
•    A proven leader in process improvement and automation/technology use. 
•    Strong tax technology skills. Proficiency in OneSource Tax Provision (OTP) required. 
•    Strong tax technical skills, including research and ability to draft technical memos. 
•    An analytical thinker; willing to take charge. Able to work under tight deadlines. 
•    A proactive leader that has strong collaboration, organization and communication 
•    skills.

Experiences/Education - Desired


• Experience with Onestream, Alteryx, Power BI, Peoplesoft and/or SAP

The range for this position is $143,893.00 - $197,853.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
