Arthrex is a global medical device company and leader in orthopedics medical education. With a corporate mission of Helping Surgeons Treat Their Patients Better™, Arthrex has pioneered the field of arthroscopy and develops more than 1,000 innovative products and procedures each year that support all aspects of orthopedics. The Medical Visualization team in Naples, Florida is responsible for developing interactive applications using emerging technologies for the purpose of educating and assisting surgeons, as well as visually communicating the science behind the medical technology created at Arthrex. We are searching for an intern pursuing a degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Interactive Media to support the Medical Visualization team. A successful candidate will assist in the development of applications for marketing, upcoming products, and medical education. The individual will follow standards and guidelines for consistent corporate identity and will take the initiative to collaborate with team members effectively and follow pre-established process flows.

 

This internship offers flexible start dates, with options to begin in either the spring (January–April) or summer (May–August). Spring interns may work a minimum of 20 hours per week, while summer interns are expected to work 40 hours per week.

 

Main Objective:

To gain real-world experience as a Realtime 3D Application Developer in a corporate environment.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Explore VR and AR technologies and assist in the development of interactive applications.
  • Keep Hardware/Software up-to-date and document hardware/software bugs, issues, limitations, temporary solutions, etc.   
  • Test new technology and alternative solutions to existing problems.       
  • Assist in the development of unit, runtime and behavioral tests. 
  • Setup test environments.        
  • Asset management in Unity, Unreal Engine and CMS. 

 

Education and Experience:

  • Progress towards a college degree in a related field required, preferably in Computer Science, Engineering, 3D Graphics or Interactive Media. A college senior, graduate student or recent graduate required. (Recent graduates must be within six months of their graduation date to qualify.)

 

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

  • Proficiency with real-time engines (e.g., Unreal, Unity) required. 
  • Knowledge of two or more of the following preferred: Maya, Visual Studio, Omniverse, Rider, Pixyz, 3ds Max, Programming, Testing, Automation, Scripting, 3D Math and 3D Graphics.
  • Be able to follow written and verbal direction.

 

Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

PC; Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook; PowerPoint; Word and Excel. Fax; Scanner.
