Digital Collections Archivist

Job Responsibilities:
- Work with the St. Jude Archivist to create transcription guidelines for oral history collections
- Transcribe and describe oral history recordings using the Oral History Metadata Synchronizer (OHMS) and Aviary
- Create rich metadata for digitized and born digital collections using controlled vocabularies, including Library of Congress Subject Headings and Name Authorities, Medical Subject Headings (MeSH), the Gender, Sex, and Sexual Orientation Ontology (GSSO), the Art and Architecture Thesaurus (AAT), and internal keywords
- Digitize photographic, textual, and complex primary source collections using best practices
- Contribute to processing paper and/or born-digital collections and finding aid creation in ArchivesSpace
- Answer patron questions (and provide reference desk coverage in our future location) in collaboration with the archivist
- Contribute to web archiving projects
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution.
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
Minimum Education and/or Training:
- Master’s degree in library science from a program accredited by the American Library Association required; post-MLS experience preferred
Minimum Experience and/or Qualifications:
- Substantial experience creating metadata using a variety of controlled vocabularies
- Experience with digital repositories and other archival applications, especially ArchivesSpace, DSpace/CONTENTdm/Hyku, and/or OHMS
- Experience working with oral histories, in physical or digital formats
- Experience processing archival collections in physical or digital formats
- Experience engaging with archives patrons and other stakeholders
- Familiarity with web archiving processes
Compensation
In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $60,320 - $105,040 per year for the role of Digital Collections Archivist.Explore our exceptional benefits!
