This position is responsible for the clinical case management and care coordination of trauma patients under the direction of the Respiratory Care Manager. LRT/Cardiopulmonary Specialists will perform all requirements of an LRT in addition to the required advanced training, collaboration with the patient care team in the development, modification and implementation of the respiratory care plan for neonates, pediatrics, adolescence, adults and geriatric patient, administer routine and specialized respiratory and critical care interventions to inpatients and outpatient patients of Regions Hospital, perform specific diagnostic procedures as requested and maintain, operate and troubleshoot respiratory and critical care equipment.

Work schedule: 0.75 FTE, Night Shift, 12-hour shifts 

Required Qualifications:

Education: 

  • Associate degree or higher in Respiratory Therapy and/or graduation from a two-year American Medical Association approved training program in Respiratory Care OR 
  • Coursework and credentials (i.e., graduate of two-year respiratory therapist program plus CRT credential) which meet the qualifications for the registry exam of the National Board for Respiratory Care may substitute for the associate degree.         

Experience: 

  • Minimum four years’ experience with at least two years’ experience at Regions Hospital with documented competency in performing respiratory critical care duties, plus the additional requirements listed below:
  • Minimum of two years performing respiratory critical duties in an acute care setting providing Hemodynamic services
  • Other as approved by Manager
  • Must work a minimum of 48 hours per pay period

Licensure/ Registration/ Certification:

  • Must be RRT and Licensed as a Respiratory Therapist (LRT) with the State of Minnesota Board of Medical Practice.
  • BLS Certified
  • ACLS Certified

Preferred Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Respiratory Therapy preferred

Licensure/ Registration/ Certification:

  • Fundamentals of Critical Care Specialty (FCCS)
  • Adult Critical Care Specialty (ACCS)
  • Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT)/ Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT) for clinic/PFT based staff
  • NRP certified (hospital-based CPS)
  • PALS (PFT CPS)
