Job Role Summary
The Clinical Access Nurse, RN serves as a main source of contact for clinical questions/refill requests/Prior Authorizations for patients of the clinic.Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Serves as a main source of contact for clinical questions/refill requests/Prior Authorizations for patients of the clinic
- Responsible for all phone calls/walk-ins related to the following issues, regardless of clinic:
- Prescription Refills (as well as walk in refill requests)
- Patient questions/symptoms issues or requests
- Pharmacy calls
- Physician calls
- Prior Authorization calls
Job Requirements
- Current Indiana license as a Registered Nurse
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical nursing experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Nursing skills in operating specialized equipment
- Competence/accountability in preparing and administering medications and treatments according to policy, procedures, effective communication skills incorporating listening, effective interviewing techniques with patients and staff appropriate to age of the patient
- Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served
- Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data/interpret appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to age-specific needs
- Ability to use age appropriate communication skills
- Age appropriate cognitive abilities, skills, techniques and communications are detailed in the department/area/unit job specific/age specific competencies
- Knowledge of fundamental nursing theories, current clinical concepts, diseases/symptoms, trauma, treatments/medications, triage, appropriate diagnostic/therapeutic procedures and interventions
- Ability to: function as a member of a health care team; delegate responsibilities/duties appropriately; follow oral/written instructions; record/interpret information accurately; assess and respond to patient status or needs
- Must be able to perform CPR and other technical skills required lifting, turning
- Must be able to position patients
- Must be able to wash hands thoroughly and frequently
- Must be able to help evacuate patients via stairwells
- Critical thinking skills are essential.
