JOB DESCRIPTION

The Athletic Trainer is a school-wide position, primarily focused on grades 7-12, reporting directly to the Director of Athletics. This role demands a highly collaborative working relationship with other members of the Athletic Training staff, Middle School and High School Athletic Directors, athletic coaches, and division-level principals, Operations Department and Performing Arts Department. The position often requires attendance at weekend and evening practices and games. Also, members of the Athletic Training Staff will be expected to provide adequate athletic training coverage during traditional academic breaks (Thanksgiving, winter and spring) for all on-campus athletic training, practices, and home contests.

JOB OVERVIEW

As an integral member of the community, the Athletic Trainer is responsible for coordinating Campbell Hall’s overall athletic training (sports medicine program); to include, injury prevention, evaluation, management and treatment of athletic injuries, short and long-term rehabilitation of athletic injuries, education, and counseling of student-athletes. The Athletic Trainer is responsible for athletic related health care administration and assists in the general health care and well-being of individuals on campus in consultation with the School Nurse, Health and Safety Committee, and other qualified medical personnel.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Foundational Roles

Provide athletic training services for all Middle School and High School athletic practices, home athletic contests, playoff contests
Provide athletic training services and general first aid support for select school events. Examples include, but are not limited to: experiential education trips, winter and spring Dance performances (dress rehearsals and performances), Fall/Homecoming Carnival (on-campus), Spirit Day activities, and other events that might include physical activity
Provide exceptional care to student-athletes through proper injury prevention and universal precautions, emergency care, follow-up care and referral documentation to outside facilities and physicians.
Uphold a professional image representing Campbell Hall at all assigned school related and community functions, including athletic contests, meetings, conferences, and events.
Always exercises discretion and receives appropriate authorization when discussing confidential information about a student-athlete with other school personnel.

General Roles

Provide timely and appropriate evaluation of injury and/or illness sustained by students engaged in school activities, including, but not limited to athletics.
Expected to render timely decisions on the playing status of an injured player in the absence of a physician.
Communicate regularly with athletes, coaches, athletic directors, health office, appropriate administrators, and parents regarding the status of all student athletes in the case of an injury or treatment and care of an injury.
Provide athletic injury rehabilitation services to student athletes as prescribed by physicians.
Provide rehabilitative procedures appropriate to the growth and development characteristics of the athlete and the nature of the injury.
Act as liaison between family physicians and specialists, athletes and their parents.
Maintain an organized, safe, and clean training room and athletic training areas that have athletic training equipment.
Evaluate and maintain athletic protective equipment and a safe athletic environment.

Record Keeping and Documentation


Maintain accurate records of injuries, treatments and provide insurance claim forms for sports injuries treated by a physician.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university; masters degree a plus
Current NATA Certification and NPI number
Current CPR and First Aid Certification
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task effectively
Ability to work with grace under pressure
Proficient computer skills
Must have or be qualified to obtain a valid California driver’s license; drivers at Campbell Hall are required to be vetted through the insurance company for authorization to drive School vehicles

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT
