Summary of Job Duties:

The Instructor of Horticulture position will lead classroom instruction, provide curriculum material, construct syllabi, create and give exams, and provide other scholastic achievement guidance. This position is a 9-month, non-tenure track appointment. Assigned courses will include a survey course: Plants, People and You, Principles of Horticulture, and other courses will be assigned by the Department Head based on departmental need. The position will be responsible for co-managing the Teaching Gardens and advise student interns working in the gardens. The successful candidate will advise students who are pursuing degrees in Horticulture, Landscape and Turfgrass Science and serve as an advisor for the undergraduate student Horticulture club. The instructor will plan educational and outreach activities to support student recruiting and will assist in event planning, assist faculty in selecting outstanding Alumni recipients, facilitate nominations of faculty and staff to teaching, research or service awards, and chair the departmental scholarship committee. This position will also perform other duties as assigned by the Department Head.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
