Senior Scientist, In-Vivo Studies

Are you an innovative and highly motivated Senior Scientist with an extensive background implementing in vivo studies? AstraZeneca is seeking a key member to join our discovery team in Waltham, MA. You will be driving projects through the drug discovery process, using your expertise with in vivo model development and execution to establish systems that deliver datasets with direct impact on discovery efforts. Accountabilities
As a Senior Scientist, you will develop, conduct, and analyze in vivo experiments to assess the function of our candidate drugs. You will support cross-functional teams and work collaboratively to ensure the timely generation and dissemination of critical program data. You will also review emerging literature and internal data to help identify new potential targets and contribute to target validation activities. Additionally, you will serve as the liaison and lead for in vivo studies conducted with external colleagues and vendors, ensuring timely execution of robust data streams to support discovery efforts.
Essential Skills/Experience:
- A PhD in a relevant field with 0-3 years’ extensive in vivo model use or MS in a relevant field with 3-5 years’ experience in mouse model development and execution or BSc with at least 5 years’ experience in mouse model development and execution.
- A demonstrated ability to lead external in vivo studies through collaborations and CROs is essential.
- Strong background ex vivo analysis of mouse models, including techniques such as flow cytometry, histology, and molecular assessments (qRT-PCR, RNA/ChIPseq, etc).
- Ability to independently design and execute research plans for one or more programs, and to review, analyse, and interpret experimental results rapidly.
- Ability to draft, execute and record protocols and experiments in a timely manner and maintain an excellent laboratory notebook.
- Job complexity is high and requires the ability to work with high degree of independence as well of a sense of urgency.
- Proven track record of success in your research and experience preparing written scientific reports and oral presentations.

- Strong interpersonal, influencing, negotiating and collaboration skills together with evidence of having used these to support problem solving and delivery in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

About the Waltham Site
