Job Description
This position envision improvements needed in QC process with lean tools, critical reagent inventory management, ordering reagents, sample management, tracking or monitoring end to end process. In an exciting and dynamic manufacturing environment, this position will drive the efficient monitoring for the execution of required testing for our Company’s Manufacturing Division in a safe and compliant manner, thereby contributing to our Company’s ability to supply veterinary biologicals to the animal health industry.
Responsibilities and Duties:
This is a dual role operating as a QC lab Management and/or Improvement Specialist (IS) and will report to the AD Quality Control / OR Site Quality Head
As an Improvement Specialist (IS), you will identify, analyze, act upon, and coach others on improvements both strategically and based on daily problems. In this position, you will lead or be involved with project teams on all facets of the value stream to improve business outcomes. You will apply lean tools, thinking, change management methodologies as you will develop colleagues at all levels so that continuous improvement is in everyone's DNA.
The QC lab Management Specialist drives insights, improves QC process management standards, ensures data integrity, and performs routine work as needed. The position will review/develop dashboards for visualizing assay trend for recurring patterns, identify best practices, coach QC staff, coordinate within the site network, and ensure data accuracy.
Primary Responsibilities of Improvement Specialist:
Initiate and implement improvement projects using Lean improvement tools (Standardization, 5S, Kaizens, Value Stream Mapping, Visual Management, etc.) to create flow and work smarter to improve performance, safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
Hands-on support for operational problems and cross-functional investigations by conducting thorough scientific problem-solving techniques.
Facilitate QC teams and provide training.
Continue to develop yourself in lean, inclusion, and change management. With this knowledge, you develop colleagues at all levels in the organization by leading by example during improvement initiatives and coaching sponsors and stakeholders.
Primary Responsibilities of QC Lab management Specialist:
Driving Insights:
Review assays for recurring patterns, such as consistent due date misses, paperwork review visualization, end to end schedule tracking including sample management.
Analyze and identify reasons behind these patterns to enhance management strategies.
Maintaining/tracking Reagent inventory and ordering supplies.
Continuous collaboration with QC manager/SQH for driving lab management as needed.
Improving Standards:
Capture and share best practices to improve QC process and standards.
Enhance project templates and processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
Provide coaching and guidance to project managers struggling to remain on track.
Ensuring Data Integrity:
Ensure accurate and timely data input into QC testing/projects.
Monitor and follow up on projects/tests/reagents at risk to ensure adherence to supply plan.
Required Education:
High school diploma or equivalent
Required Experience and Skills:
3-5 years of demonstrable work experience with continuous improvement in the following fields: biopharmaceuticals, manufacturing, or quality. Military service, coursework, and degrees may be considered in place of experience.
Experience in facilitating project teams or project management.
Result-oriented and able to manage many different tasks and projects.
Experience and insight into working with data, making trends visible, and performing data analysis.
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Project)
Team player with a "go-to-the-gemba" attitude, analytical & eager to learn.
Pleasant, communicative, skilled personality who can connect with colleagues.
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:
Bachelor's degree in animal science, biology, or a relevant field.
