Position: Senior Manager | U.S. ABAC and Compliance Programs Governance | U.S. Central Compliance

 

Purpose

Contributes to the overall success of the U.S. Anti-Bribery & Anti-Corruption (“ABAC”) and Compliance Programs Governance function within U.S. Compliance, ensuring U.S.-specific goals, plans, and initiatives are executed and delivered in support of the U.S. Compliance strategy, applicable regulatory expectations, and Scotiabank’s broader risk management objectives.

Accountabilities

  • ABAC advisory and governance: Provide subject matter advice to U.S. Business Lines and Corporate Functions on ABAC and related compliance program governance matters, including gifts and entertainment, third-party payments, third-party risk management, charitable donations, corporate sponsorships, political activities, hiring practices, and recordkeeping.
    Framework, policy, and procedures: Manage the development, maintenance, oversight, and enhancement of U.S. ABAC and Compliance Programs Governance frameworks, policies, procedures, standards, and guidance, including related socialization, approval, implementation, and communication activities.
  • U.S. Compliance Program governance: Lead or support U.S. Compliance Program governance matters, including strategic initiatives, transformation activities, governance enhancements, and related execution support.
    Training and awareness: Develop and deliver ABAC training, awareness materials, and targeted communications to reinforce employee understanding of U.S. ABAC requirements and compliance program governance expectations.
    Monitoring, analytics, and reporting: Develop, implement, and maintain analytics, metrics, dashboards, status reports, governance committee materials, Board-level reporting, and regulatory reporting to monitor program activity, trends, issues, incidents, and emerging risks.
  • Risk assessments and program oversight: Manage ABAC-related inputs and processes for risk assessments, including NIRAs, CRCAs, and RCSAs, and use resulting insights to inform program enhancements and governance priorities.
    Escalations and reviews: Review and respond to ABAC-related questions, requests, escalations, and reviews, including matters involving third-party payments, charitable donations, sponsorships, memberships, gifts, entertainment activity, and other risk indicators.
  • Third-party due diligence: Manage ABAC due diligence reviews and supporting documentation for vendors and suppliers under the Third Party Risk Management Program.
    Industry intelligence and resources: Monitor bribery and corruption developments, lessons learned, and emerging trends, and maintain current ABAC resources and guidance on internal team sites and shared platforms.
  • Risk culture and controls: Promote effective and efficient operations consistent with Scotiabank’s risk appetite, risk culture, Values, Code of Conduct, Global Sales Principles, and applicable operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk
