Job Description  

As forklift operator you will be responsible for safely and efficiently moving, stacking, and loading materials using a forklift. They may also operate other industrial vehicles such are cherry pickers, front loaders, bobcats, pallet jacks, etc.

Main Duties

As a forklift operator you will have many duties and responsibilities that are essential to maximizing the factory or warehouse workflow. Here are some of the common duties and responsibilities that a forklift operator will need to perform.

• Transportation: Move goods and pallets between areas of a warehouse or facility, such as productions lines, storage areas, and loading docks
• Loading & Unloading: Load, unload, pack, and unpack materials from vehicles, such as trucks, onto and off trailers.
• Stacking: Stack crates, pallets, bales, and /or other materials in correct storage bays.
• Labeling/Sorting: Label and sort incoming and outgoing shipments. Relocate items within the facility or factory when necessary.
• Operate a forklift, winch, or other machinery used for transporting or shipping materials
• Track inventory of incoming and outgoing items
• Carefully handle and dispose of waste materials whenever necessary.
• Maintenance: Must be able to perform basic equipment checks and maintenance, such as cleaning, oiling, recharging, and refueling.
• Safety: Ensure loads are centered and properly stacked, while adhering to health and safety regulations.
• Documentation: Complete forms and maintain accurate production records and inventory records.
• Communication: Communicate with other employees and supervisors to maintain an organized work environment.

As a forklift operator you will also need to have strong time management skills and be able to work in a fast-paced environment. You may need to be able to stand for extended periods of time, move, push, pull, and lift objects up to 70 lbs., and see objects closely to read directions.
