The Health & Benefits Consultant will play a pivotal role in directly managing and executing benefit program strategies in collaboration with internal and external (clients & vendors) stakeholders. Primary responsibilities will be focused on leading the delivery of large employer group Health & Welfare Benefits consulting engagements for complex clients while serving as a key point of contact for our clients.  By collaborating closely with the consulting team, the Health & Benefits Consultant will contribute to our mission of providing exceptional consulting services and ensuring the success of our client’s health and group benefit programs. Dedication and a proactive approach will be essential in maintaining effective relationships and driving positive outcomes.

Essential Duties and Functions:

  • Oversee the day-to-day activities of client engagements

  • Manage complex projects, teams, and client deliverables through a detail-oriented approach to project management

  • Prepare for and facilitate client & vendor meetings as part of the broader client team

  • Lead and support the development of client benefit strategies tailored to a client’s specific business needs, objectives, and desired outcomes

  • Analyze vendor products, proposals, and services including ongoing issue resolution

  • Support intellectual capital development in collaboration with Senior Consultants & Principals

  • Assist with business development, including proposal development and participation in prospect presentations

  • Serve as a technical resource and mentor Analysts

  • Analyze financial metrics related to health and welfare benefit plans (e.g., medical, dental, vision, well-being, disability, etc.) in coordination with the actuarial and analytics team

  • Support ad-hoc client requests

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Experience and Skills

  • 5+ years’ experience leading client engagements and complex teams at consultant, broker, or carrier

  • In-depth knowledge of health and welfare plans including design, financials, underwriting, vendors, and solutions

  • Ability to manage complex projects, working with large teams

  • Strong client-facing and communication skills

  • Ability to work independently

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite

  • Strong math and statistics skills

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • Track record of client retention and growth of existing client relationships

  • Self-funded underwriting experience, strongly preferred

  • Bachelor's degree
