Job Summary:The Arizona Department of Juvenile Corrections is seeking a Physical Plant Director, who will oversee the physical plant needs of the Adobe Mountain School facility; a more than 300 acre facility with over 40 buildings that are aging and complex. The position will have responsibility over capital improvement, building renewal, construction and project management, facility maintenance, custodial/janitorial services, and grounds keeping duties; prepare complex cost estimates for new construction and major renovations of existing buildings.; direct the work of contract architects, engineers, construction and project management; and represent the agency on matters involving the agency on matters involving the facility; capital projects ; custodial and grounds management. The position will direct and design and implantation of a comprehensive and efficient system of managing physical plant functions to include but not limited to after-hours maintenance, emergency scheduling/ response; standard work order process; preventative maintenance scheduling; routine housekeeping of structures and policing of grounds to include regular landscaping functions. The position will establish standardized processes in collaboration/ support of the agency Finance/Business office to ensure compliance with state rules and regulations in regard to fiscal services/functions, as well as department policy and procedures.The position will oversee the personnel assigned to the Physical Plant department, to include, directing work assignments, employee evaluations, scheduling, hiring, training and disciplinary/corrective actions.
This position is available for remote work on a full-time basis within Arizona (including virtual office arrangements).

This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Job Duties:-Management and supervision of the maintenance, Janitorial/Custodial and Groundskeeping department; 3 direct reports and 23 indirect reports, as well as some youth work positions
-Oversee skilled, semi skilled and unskilled labor in the completion of daily duties and special projects in support of the physical plant to include tool and key accountability, considered a sound practice and essential part of performing successfully within a correctional environment
-Conduct employee evaluations, scheduling, hiring, training, and discipline/corrective action as needed.
-Analyze the feedback to identify areas for improvement; provide continued support to ensure that the training is effectively applied and that staff have access to additional resources as needed
-Offer one-on-one or group coaching sessions, fidelity checks to address any challenges or questions that arise after training. Provide access to additional materials, refresher courses, and support networks
-Maintain accurate records of training activities and outcomes to ensure accountability and facilitate future planning
