Job Description

ServiceNow is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, to join our team building highly scalable Cloud Automation software. The team is looking for a passionate developer who is searching for an exciting environment and innovative technology.

The Cloud Infrastructure Services team is focused on building a highly scalable and robust “lights-out” cloud orchestration services suite that enables automating various life cycle events for thousands of ServiceNow customer instances. These business-critical automations include processes like instance provisioning, instance cloning & load balancing them across the globally distributed server farms. We leverage high-scale distributed computing fabric in concert with powerful orchestration logic to achieve resiliency and reliability of these automations in our Cloud.

What you get to do in this role:

  • Design and develop cloud automation to support the deployment and management of ServiceNow Platform/Products in our own infrastructure as well as Public Clouds
  • Work with the product owners to understand detailed requirements and own your code from design, implementation, test automation, and delivery of the high-quality product to our users.
  • Build high-quality, clean, scalable, and reusable code by enforcing best practices around software engineering architecture and processes (Code Reviews, Unit testing, etc.)
  • Work as a member of our developer team that scales our automation to meet the needs of the future.
  • Interact with other members of the infrastructure organization and the ServiceNow development teams 
  • Be a mentor for colleagues and help promote knowledge-sharing

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you have:

 

  • Experience in leveraging or critically thinking about how to integrate AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving. This may include using AI-powered tools, automating workflows, analyzing AI-driven insights, or exploring AI's potential impact on the function or industry.
  • Passion for software development and problem-solving
  • 4+ years of experience designing and building scalable reusable components.
  • Exceptional Java & JavaScript programming skills
  • Experience designing & building scalable web services
  • Expertise in messaging and streaming technologies like RabbitMQ or Kafka.
  • Good knowledge of Configuration Management tools like Puppet.
  • Proficiency in web technologies like XML, REST, JSON.
  • Exceptional debugging, testing, and problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional understanding of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design and design patterns
  • Self-starter, with quick learning curve
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Solid understanding and experience with agile software development lifecycle
  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline.

Desired Skills

  • Prior experience with development on ServiceNow Platform.
  • Knowledge of cloud technology and distributed computing
  • Working knowledge of Linux Internals
  • Experience building ITOM (IT operations management) software
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (like Perl, Python and bash)

For positions in this location, we offer a base pay of $140,700 - $239,200, plus equity (when applicable), variable/incentive compensation and benefits. Sales positions generally offer a competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) incentive compensation structure. Please note that the base pay shown is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location.
