GEO Next Generation Academy in Indianapolis is in need of a fully licensed and experienced High School Technology Teacher.  

The Technology Teacher will be responsible for teaching students about various aspects of technology, including computer programming, software development, and hardware maintenance. Instruction will include an introductory survey course, Python programming and Web Programming (Javascript, PHP, MySQL) and/or college level computer science courses.  The Technology Teacher will also be responsible for developing lesson plans, delivering lectures, and assessing student progress.   Regular duties for this position include:

• Developing & implementing lesson plans that align with the school's curriculum & educational standards
• Teaching the various aspects of technology, including:  programming, software development & hardware maintenance by incorporating the basic mathematics & science behind the operation of computers' hardware & software
• Teaching students how to write computer programs, algorithms & programming languages
• Integrating competencies, goals, and objectives into lesson plans
• Creating projects designed to enhance lectures
• Utilizing current curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students
•  Developing professional relationships with other agencies and programs regarding the teaching & use of technology
• Tutoring students individually if needed

Requirements

Job requirements include:

• Bachelor's degree (minimum) in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field
• Valid Indiana Initial Practitioner or Professional Educator license (Emergency permits/substitute licenses not accepted)
• Strong command of programming languages, software development, & hardware maintenance
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to collaborate with other teachers & staff
• Passion for teaching and a commitment to student success
