Job Description
Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced Director of Financial Accounting & Reporting, responsible for directing the accounting policies, procedures, and practices of the USA operations in accordance with Group and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and the Sarbanes Oxley Act (SOX). Areas of responsibility include Accounting & Financial Reporting, Payables, Payroll, Taxes and Compliance.
The Director of Financial Accounting & Reporting will play a crucial role in supporting the financial management of the company. This role is essential for maintaining the financial health of the company and providing valuable insights for decision-making.
Duties include providing timely and accurate financial information to the Group and Board of Directors and all levels of management, managing audit and tax process, cash, and ensuring appropriate systems and controls are in place for reporting, compliance under SOX and to safeguard company’s assets, managing and developing accounting staff and developing and assisting in implementing operational budgets, plans, and procedures.
Specifically, the Director of Financial Accounting & Reporting will:
- Oversee preparation of timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with Group policy and IFRS, including reports to Group, management, and board of results against budgets and forecasts.
- Organize and supervise the audit and SOX reporting process including working with external auditors.
- Oversee the accounting policies, procedures, and practices for the USA to ensure proper controls and compliance.
- Support improvements for projecting cash flow and appropriate strategies to maximize efficiency of the balance sheet and cash.
- Develop, train, and manage accounting staff and evaluate the structure of the team and plan for continued improvements in its efficiency and effectiveness, and provide individuals with opportunities for professional and personal growth.
- Manage annual financial statement, 401k and FAR Overhead audits including working with external auditors.
- Lead the tax process including working with external resources on the preparation of all tax returns.
- Oversee the payroll function ensuring the process is timely and accurate.
- Develop relationships with key stakeholders; be approachable and serve as a mentor to the Finance team and the business on financial issues.
- SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.
Qualifications
*In-office working is required three days out of the week at the T&T NYC office.
Education and Experience
- 8+ years of relevant accounting and management experience through some combination of public company and public accounting experience.
- CPA or international equivalent required.
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree.
- Experience working internationally, UK preferred or reporting to a UK parent company.
- Experience working in a professional services or consulting environment is preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 accounting software is a plus.
