The Apprentice Mentor plays a key role in supporting apprentices throughout their apprenticeship journey, ensuring they remain engaged, motivated, and on track to achieve successful outcomes. Working closely with apprentices, employers and internal stakeholders, the Apprentice Mentor provides coaching, mentoring and learner-centred support through regular progress reviews, enrichment activities, Additional Learning Support, and the development of professional behaviours and soft skills. The role is focused on helping learners overcome barriers, achieve programme milestones, and maximise their potential within the workplace and apprenticeship programme.



Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular progress reviews with apprentices and employers to monitor learner development, achievement, attendance, engagement and progression.
  • Work closely with Line Managers and workplace supervisors to ensure apprentices are completing agreed actions and meeting programme milestones.
  • Set clear SMART targets and action plans that support learner progress and successful completion of apprenticeship programmes.
  • Provide mentoring, coaching and encouragement to apprentices to build confidence, resilience, motivation and professional behaviours.
  • Deliver, coordinate and promote enrichment activities that support wider personal development and enhance the learner experience.
  • Identify barriers to learning and work collaboratively with wider support teams to ensure learners receive appropriate interventions and support.
  • Support the implementation and monitoring of Additional Learning Support (ALS) plans where required, ensuring reasonable adjustments are in place.
  • Develop positive working relationships with apprentices, employers, curriculum teams and support services to promote learner success.
  • Monitor learner engagement and intervene proactively where attendance, participation or progress causes concern.
  • Maintain accurate records of learner progress, reviews, targets and support activities in line with organisational requirements.
  • Provide information, advice and guidance to apprentices to support achievement, progression and career development.
  • Promote equality, diversity, inclusion, safeguarding and British Values throughout all aspects of delivery and learner engagement.
  • Contribute to quality improvement activities and share best practice to enhance learner outcomes and employer satisfaction.

·    Timely completion of complicate, high-quality learner progress reviews every 8-12 weeks

·    Achievement of learner action plans and SMART targets.

·    Positive learner progress against apprenticeship milestones.

·    Effective support and intervention for learners identified as requiring additional support.

·    Successful delivery and participation in enrichment activities.

·    Positive completion and achievement rates across apprenticeship programmes.

·    Accurate and compliant learner records and documentation.


Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Qualifications and specific training
  • Relevant qualification or equivalent experience within marketing, communications, engagement or branding (essential)
  • CIM qualification or equivalent (desirable)
Experience 
  • Experience within a marketing, communications or engagement role (essential)
  • Experience managing digital platforms and campaigns (essential)
  • Experience creating engaging content across multiple channels (essential)
  • Experience within education, skills or employability sectors (desirable)
  • Experience supporting learner recruitment or employer engagement campaigns (desirable)
Knowledge
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing and communications (essential)
  • Understanding of branding and audience engagement (essential)
  • Knowledge of funded provision or training sector (desirable)
