This is a 12-month position, which serves in a support role for faculty teaching introductory courses in the Physics Department. It includes teaching Introductory Physics Labs, grading, laboratory maintenance, development of experiments, and other administrative duties. The Faculty Assistant will assist the instructor of the course and the lab manager in any manner requested.Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist in course instruction and/or laboratory sub-sections: Answer student questions; instruct in proper laboratory technique; evaluate student progress and performance; maintain a safe laboratory environment; present labs and details of the experiment, etc.
Assist in grading student laboratory reports, homework, and assignments: Evaluate student laboratory technique, evaluate student written communication skills; check calculations; evaluate student comprehension of physics concepts based on laboratory work and reports, etc.
Laboratory maintenance: Maintain a clean and safe laboratory environment. Help students clean the laboratory after the experiment is finished. Clean, fix, maintain laboratory equipment, etc.
Development of experiments: Help on developing new experiments, troubleshoot equipment for new experiments; proofread written laboratory instructions, etc.
Perform other duties as assigned.
