JOB SUMMARY:
The Director, Patient Support is a non-commission based role independent of the sales organization, that will provide reimbursement assistance, education, and support for BioCryst products. We are seeking a dynamic leader to drive performance management, coaching and goal setting for our patient support programs. The ideal candidate will focus on enhancing program effectiveness through data-driven improvements and optimizing resource allocation for maximum impact. This individual will be responsible for guiding and coaching a team of leaders and Patient Support Managers who educate patients, their caregivers, family members, physicians, nurses and office staff to address and prevent access barriers to therapy. This individual will have a strong understanding of the product access and support needs of patients and healthcare providers in rare disease and/or specialty product markets. #LI-REMOTE
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Program Oversight: Monitor and assess the effectiveness of patient support programs, implementing improvements based on data analysis to enhance outcomes. Develop best practices for the team across the Patient Support function to ensure consistency across the team.
- Team Guidance: Provide ongoing support through team calls, ride-alongs, and meetings to ensure compliance and effective use of tools for patient and HCP engagement. Coach, mentor and guide a team of Patient Support Managers in educating patients, physicians, nurses and office staff while following strict compliance guidelines.
- Resource Optimization: Allocate resources strategically to maximize the efficiency and impact of support programs.
- Analytics Management: Oversee program metrics through dashboards and reports to ensure transparency, identify trends, measure success, and support strategic decision-making.
- Team Culture: Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team culture that emphasizes accountability and embraces innovation with a sense of urgency.
- Strategic Partnership: Collaborate with the VP of Patient Services to develop strategies, tactics, and messaging that align with organizational priorities, and focus on the patient experience. In conjunction with patient advocacy, engage with local patient organizations to educate on access resources. Liaise with Marketing and other internal commercial functions to report key insights and findings in a compliant manner.
- Issue Identification: Utilize analytics to identify access and reimbursement challenges in the region, working closely with Sales, Patient Services, Strategic Data Insights Operations, and Market Access teams to develop strategic solutions.
- Cross-Functional Compliance: Ensure the team's compliance with cross-functional partnership protocols.
- Overnight travel to meetings, conferences, and medical offices may be required.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 10+ years of commercial experience in Specialty Pharmacy and/or biotech/pharma preferred.
- 3+ years of people leadership experience in leading teams.
- Relevant experience in pharmaceutical patient access services.
