General Notes

The Center for Students in Recovery (CSR) is a large, high-visibility collegiate recovery program that provides a supportive community for students in or seeking recovery from addiction. CSR is not a treatment program and does not provide clinical services, but is instead oriented around peer recovery support, sober social activities, and campus and community outreach and education. While CSR is a stand-alone program within the Division of Student Affairs, it receives administrative support from Healthyhorns.

* This position is primarily on campus but eligible for flexible work due to temporary lack of office availability.

** This is a time limited position with funding for two (2) years from date of hire. Continued funding beyond this commitment is not guaranteed.

Purpose

Serve as primary communicator for the Center for Students in Recovery program to campus audiences. Coordinating and representing CSR in various capacities across campus and with the community; collaborating with partners both on and off campus.

Responsibilities

Communications

  • Primary communicator for CSR to campus audiences, which includes creating marketing materials and promoting all CSR programming for campus audiences through all available communication channels including newsletters, social media and the website.

  • Create, in coordination with relevant staff, communication materials for CSR programs as needed.

  • Maintain CSR Recovery in the Park involvement, including social media content, logistics support, tabling events, etc.

  • Ensure all CSR materials, including the website, are up to date, user-friendly, and accessible for all students.

  • Along with the Healthyhorns Public Information Team and other campus partners, utilize evidence-based health communication strategies to: assist staff in creating CSR subject matter health behavior and health promotion related social media content for Healthyhorns channels; create web content for CSR and provide recovery-related content for other UT websites; create other health promotion materials.

Event planning and program support

  • Represent the CSR in various capacities including, but not limited to tabling, events, and workshops.

  • Create, maintain, and/or finalize event details and promotional materials that support CSR programs, including: work with partners to promote Recovery Month including tabling, naloxone trainings, and celebratory events for September; create a repeatable event implementation and promotional plan for CSR events; coordinate and integrate existing and new recovery-related initiatives and develop communication plans for promotion.

  • Collaborate on and support multi-department events and programs as needed.

Collaborate with key stakeholders on and off campus to develop a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to a campus culture of wellness.

  • Work alongside and participate in projects with the Healthyhorns Public Information Team and Student Affairs Communicators Team.

  • Meet with campus partners to enhance collaborations on CSR communication and programs

  • Participate as an active member of campus health and well-being programs and initiatives.
