The Operations & Facilities Management Department at WashU Medicine is committed to delivering a comprehensive range of services to support the medical campus.We oversee maintenance and operations for 65 buildings, covering more than 11.1 million gross square feet of space. This includes the 11-story, 609,000-square-foot neuroscience research building, which houses one of the world’s highest concentrations of neuroscientists. Our responsibilities include operational and administrative support, strategic planning, and project management.
Furthermore, as the School of Medicine continues to expand its presence both on and off campus in areas such as teaching, clinical care, and research, our team remains instrumental in ensuring the seamless delivery of clinical care, advancing research initiatives, and facilitating educational endeavors.
Position is responsible for all aspects of custodial services of clinical, research, teaching, and office space. Ensures cleaning service levels are met throughout their area of responsibility. Ensures department processes, policies, and best practices are followed by staff. Familiarizes newly hired custodians with their assigned work areas, workload staff, develops job cards, and observes quality and quantity of the work performed; trains on proper cleaning techniques and equipment usage; orders supplies/materials. Promotes good customer service while resolving customer concerns.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsible for daily custodial operations, including general, special, and emergency housekeeping, assignment of the custodial staff, equipment, inventories, policy enforcement, and general records.
Supervises custodial personnel, recruits, employs, determines salary, trains, supervises, evaluates, counsels, and terminates staff.
Responsible for training of all assigned staff in safety protocols via monthly safety meetings and other safety initiatives.
Evaluates the performance of custodial front-line and leadership; sets goals/objectives and provides written evaluations semi-annually.
Conducts regular team meetings to share information, discuss areas of concern, provide positive feedback and follow up with employees.
Reviews and controls budget variances, reporting the same to the Director.
Inspects and evaluates facility conditions in relation to established standards.
Assists the Director in other duties as assigned, including the planning and accomplishment of departmental objectives.
Performs other duties as assigned.
