Job Description:

   

The HPC System Software Deployment Engineer will provide advanced technical support for first-of-a-kind and business critical HPC deployments worldwide.  This engineer will report into the Leadership Systems Organization of the HPC & AI Advanced Deployment team and provide direct support and leadership to deployment engineers and customers to ensure that world class HPC systems are brought online and are fit for purpose according to our customer commitments and obligations.  This position will interface with R&D as necessary to achieve customer requirements, and they will provide knowledge transfer and training to our global deployment and service teams.  This position will be encouraged to improve the exchange of ideas, requirements, and tools for HPE HPC customers, HPC service, and HPC deployment teams and to express desired and needed features to better address the requirements of HPC systems.

Responsibilities:

• Provide technical consulting on complex HPC deployments supporting the advanced deployment team and acting as a first line of engineering support
• Provides advanced technical consulting and advice on proposal efforts, solution design, and modification of solutions
• Engages in technical problem solving across multiple technologies; often needs to develop new methods to apply to the situation
• Ability to design, develop and use tools to bring-up and validate large scale HPC and AI deployments
• Provide mentorship and development of technical delivery personnel
• Create and provide development opportunities for rotating members of the Leadership Systems Organization from HPC R&D, Product Management, or other functions through guided participation in customer deployments
• Develop best practices and contribute learnings to the larger community via written guidance and presentations
• Discuss and collect opportunities and use cases with key customers and translate into requirements to be pushed back into R&D
• Influence the strategic direction of our HPC and AI products

Education and Experience Required:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent
• Typically 6-10 years of experience

Knowledge and Skills:

• Has sufficient depth and breadth of technical knowledge to design and scope multiple deliverables across a number of technologies
• Has demonstrated innovation and communication of new deliverables and offerings
• Has led team in the delivery of multiple deliverables across multiple technologies
• Ability to develop solutions that enhance the availability, performance, maintainability and agility of a particular customer's enterprise
• Has contributed to the design and application of new tools
• Ability to re-use existing experience to develop new solutions to take to market
• Possesses an understanding, at a detailed level, of architectural dependencies of technologies in use in the customer's environment
• A recognized expert in one or more technologies
• Able to communicate with internal and external senior management confidently and demonstrate professionalism
• Ability to work in a multi-technology environment with the ability to diagnose complex technical problems to their root cause
• Demonstrates broad knowledge in other technical areas in order to properly manage complex integration efforts. Demonstrates application of technical expertise in successful engagements involving multiple disciplines
