- Valid Texas Mid-Management or Principal's certification
- Preferred - T-Tess certified
Technology Proficiency: Level 2
- Required: Use of technology for specific purposes: Data Retrieval, Word Documents, Presentation, Recordkeeping, and other forms of instructional technology usage.
Special Knowledge/Skills Required:
- Thorough understanding of school administrative operations
- Knowledge and skills relative to traditional and new pedagogical theories, applications, and processes which relate to effective teaching across the disciplines
- Knowledge in effective teaching strategies, peer coaching and mentoring skills
- Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
- Able to evaluate instructional program and teaching effectiveness
Experience:
- Three years of successful classroom teaching
Function
Provide teachers with effective research-based teaching strategies by working collegially with teachers and modeling teaching strategies that have been demonstrated to promote student achievement. Assist in the administration and implementation of the instructional program and school operations. Conduct conferences with parents, students, and teachers regarding student issues related to academic and instruction. Primary responsibilities include planning, developing, and coordinating curriculum/instruction
opportunities while assessing the needs of students. The focus is on methods for organization of materials and resources, lesson plan development, and effective delivery and facilitation of Instruction.

Responsibilities:
INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENT
- Participates in the development, implementation, coordination, and monitoring of all aspects of the instructional program.
- Works closely with department chairpersons to help ensure instructional change occurs relative to teaching in the classroom and meeting the academic needs of students.
- Coordinates vertical and horizontal teaming among staff representing the various disciplines in respect to the campus. Supports vertical teaming efforts with middle schools.
- Facilitates horizontal and vertical alignment by serving as liaison between the feeder schools and the high school
SCHOOL/ORGANIZATIONAL CLIMATE
- Affects teacher behavior change by modeling effective teaching in the classroom and working directly with teachers.
- Communicates and promotes high expectations for all staff and students' performance, provides recognition of excellence and achievement which promotes a positive image to the community, and maintains positive staff morale.
- Coordinates supporting activities to accomplish the goals and objectives of the instructional program.
SCHOOL/ORGANIZATIONAL IMPROVEMENT
- Mentors new and inexperienced teachers.
- Models for teachers actual lessons with varied instructional teaching strategies.
- Models and trains teachers in test data analysis, assessment of student needs, organization of curriculum and instructional materials, planning daily instruction, and developing prescriptions for student learning.
- Facilitates the development, implementation, coordination, and monitoring of the Campus Improvement Plan.
- Recognizes, evaluates and analyzes elements of effective instruction and ensures that the instructional program is responsive to student needs.
- Provides on-campus training, instructional resources and materials to support teaching staff, assists with planning for staff in-service events, ensuring that inservice is in alignment with student instructional goals.
- Serves as an instructional liaison with a mentor and representative from the Office of Curriculum and Instruction.
- Coordinates instructional assessments for students (i.e ., TAKS, THEA, AP, CREDIT-BY-EXAM) and works closely with the Office of Assessment and Accountability.
- Coordinate the development of the master schedule.
PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT:
- Assists in defining expectations for staff regarding job performance.
- Assists in identifying and providing opportunities for and encourages participation in staff development options to address school/district/employee goals identified through the goal-setting process.
- Works cooperatively with the Department for Human Resources in the selection of campus staff, and is closely monitoring the certification status of staff members when appropria
