The Warehouse Shift Lead is responsible for both supporting and maintaining all aspects of warehouse operations, including, but not limited to, shipping, receiving and warehouse equipment maintenance.  The Warehouse Shift Lead is also responsible for controlling the movement and proper storage of material to and from production by item and lot number and coordinating the movement of raw material deliveries and finished goods.

Shift: Rotating 12 hours (6 am – 6 pm)

The Role

  • Perform all duties as Material Handler I, II and III plus.

  • Provide leadership, guidance and training to Level I, II and III Materials Handlers within all warehouse functions.

  • Serve in a supervisory role when the supervisor is not available.

  • Ensure MHs adhere to all safety requirements, including wearing and using appropriate PPE.

  • Maintain a clean and operational warehouse; performs GEMBA walks and proactively corrects identified issues and keeps management informed.

  • Review and analyze warehouse data to identify improvements related to safety, quality, delivery, costs, and lean activities.

  • Plan and organize work ensuring that all deadlines are met.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The Candidate

  • High school diploma is required

  • 2 + experience in a warehouse environment is preferred. Prior pharmaceutical or food manufacturing/processing experience preferred

  • Able to operate the areas in the absence of the supervisor and manager, including excellent decision and problem-solving skills

  • Exceptional knowledge of SOPs and guidelines

  • Must be able to write Job Safety Analysis (JSAs) for the area

  • In the absence of MHs, steps in and perform assigned duties

  • Display effective communication and professionalism with peers and management, ensuring that material is staged both promptly and accurately

  • Demonstrate all levels of warehouse skills needed to complete daily tasks and operate all equipment related to warehouse activities

  • Demonstrable leadership experience at Catalent (including but not limited to participation in Catalent-sponsored leadership programs such as NGGL, GOLD, LEAD Now, GM Excellence, and GROW) may be considered in place of external experience.

  • Creating, maintaining, and operating the warehouse storage and organizational system, including receiving shipments, placing goods on shelves, distributing support products, and operating work saver equipment such as hand trucks, pallet jacks, and fork trucks. This involves lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs, maneuvering drums with up to 80 lbs of force, data entry for shipment tracking, and ensuring safe operation in a dynamic industrial warehouse environment with specific vision and coordination requirements.

  • Must follow safety instructions and Will require occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions (rain, heat, cold, snow)
