Description
The Senior Purchasing Agent is responsible for critical or difficult procurements that require a higher level of experience, knowledge, professionalism, and administration. Responsible for coordinating and administering purchase agreements for assigned commodities. Provides guidance and assistance to other purchasing personnel. The Senior Purchasing Agent is proficient in all aspects of the job and oversees their department in absence of the Supply Chain Manager.
Requirements
Required Education and Experience:
- At least five years of buying or purchasing experience
- Manufacturing and supply chain experience is strongly preferred
- Degree strongly preferred, but applicants with applicable experience will be considered
- Supervisory experience preferred
Essential functions and responsibilities:
- Purchase supplies, materials, and parts for Marco Industries.
- Monitor and follow applicable laws and regulations.
- Prepare purchase orders, solicit bid proposals, and review requisitions for goods and services.
- Analyze price proposals, financial reports, and other data and information to determine reasonable prices.
- Negotiate, renegotiate, and administer contracts with suppliers, vendors, and other representatives.
- Purchase the highest quality merchandise at the lowest possible price and in correct amounts.
- Maintain excellent communication with assigned suppliers and vendors.
- In the absence of the Supply Chain Manager, will be responsible for all Supply Chain Manager duties.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Office work using technology daily to handle fax, email, copier, scanner, phone and computer-related tasks and responsibilities.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be moderate to loud. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Occupational Health and Safety:

- Identification and reporting of health and safety risks, accidents, incidents, injuries and property damage at the workplace.

- Semi-annual performance appraisal.
- Attainment of annual goals established between supervisor and employee.
