Job Summary: Join our Project Engineering Department as Principal Project Engineer (Technical Staff Position) and play a pivotal role in delivering readiness to the US warfighter by rapidly upgrading air, ground, and sea-based platforms with integrated hardware and software solutions that enhance capabilities, ensuring timely and relevant operational superiority. As the highest technical authority in project engineering, you will define department-wide strategies, drive technical innovation, ensure cross-disciplinary engineering excellence, and foster organizational success. In this role, you will also lead efforts to develop management systems, mentor engineers, solve complex technical challenges, influence front-end business activities, and work on high-impact technical projects that shape the future of engineering at V2X.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Lead complex, multi-disciplinary technical projects in mechanical, electrical, software, and manufacturing engineering.
- Define department-wide strategies, policies, and agile transformation initiatives to enhance collaboration and processes.
- Represent the company in industry forums, technical committees, and executive discussions.
- Mentor engineers, fostering a culture of excellence, learning, and innovation.
Technical Expertise & Integration
- Implement advanced decision-making tools like trade studies, cost-benefit analyses, and problem-solving frameworks.
- Oversee cross-disciplinary integration across engineering domains.
- Manage supplier relationships, contracts, and enterprise-wide technical compliance.
Risk & Quality Management
- Drive proactive risk management strategies to mitigate uncertainties in engineering.
- Ensure enterprise compliance with standards like IEEE 15288, PMI PMBOK, ISO 9001, and AS9100.
Operational Contributions
- Conduct Independent Technical Reviews to ensure project alignment with organizational standards.
- Establish best practices for cost modeling, resource forecasting, and proposal development.
- Optimize engineering staffing plans and workload distribution across the organization.
- Solve complex technical challenges while contributing to business development initiatives.
ISO/IEC/IEEE Standards:
- Expertise in IEEE 15288, focusing on project planning, assessment, and risk management.
- Proficiency in IEEE 24748-1, including life cycle model adaptations and enabling system transitions.
- Knowledge of IEEE 24748-8, ensuring technical review rigor across life cycle phases.
Required Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
Experience:
- 15+ years of experience in engineering or project management, with a strong background in managing complex technical projects.
Technical Competencies:
- Comprehensive expertise in IEEE 15288, PMI PMBOK, ISO 9001, and AS9100.
- Advanced proficiency in tools such as Azure, Jira, Windchill, and GitHub.
- Broad technical knowledge spanning mechanical, electrical, software, and manufacturing engineering disciplines.
Soft Skills:
- Strategic vision and decision-making capabilities.
- Ability to mentor engineers and influence organizational success.
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills.
Level of Supervision
- Operates independently with broad latitude in a complex, enterprise-wide environment.
