Salary:
Lecturer A/2 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range: $5,507 – $6,677 per month
Lecturer B/3 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range: $6,221 – $13,224 per month
Lecturer C/4 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range: $6,825 – $14,523 per month
Lecturer D/5 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range: $8,593 – $15,211 per month
Anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. See the Faculty Salaries At-a-Glance guide for more information.

Position Summary:
The Department of Music, Theatre and Dance is collecting application materials for a one-year (2025-2026) full-time temporary faculty teaching opportunity beginning August 20 in the area of Scenic Design and Technical Theatre, with the possibility of appointment in subsequent years. The ideal candidate would scenic design and draft all four main-stage productions as well as supervise the student crews and teach courses in design. We are especially interested in candidates committed to supporting the success of diverse student groups, including first-generation and underrepresented students. California State University, Chico seeks faculty who are competent in their field, collaborative with colleagues and staff, and committed to student success.
Minimum Qualifications:
An MA in Scenic Design or related field. Scenic Design, painting and drafting experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred candidates would have an MFA and/or a secondary design area and/or be qualified to teach Stagecraft, Scenic Design, Lighting Design, Foundations of Drama, Foundations of Design, Stage Management or other classes as needed. Successful candidates should have a demonstrated commitment to teaching to diverse student groups diversity as evidenced in their record of teaching, scholarship, and/or service.
Responsibilities:
Scenic Design and drafting for all four main stage productions. Mentor and oversee student production crews and contribute scenic painting and construction to main stage productions. Oversee Properties management. Additional duties as assigned. Specific teaching assignments and other duties are based upon qualifications of the individual and the needs of the department.
