Curtis, a Rehlko company, The Senior Quality Specialist / Inspector is responsible for all quality assurance, part inspection activities, and compliance with all applicable regulatory and corporate requirements. The Senior Quality Specialist / Inspector conducts audits and reviews/analyzes documentation and data. This role also creates inspection reports, inspection process and procedure documents, quality acceptance specifications, and is responsible for review and approval of ECR/ECN’s. Senior Quality Specialist / Inspector must be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a quality organization. This role also relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Essential Functions:
Perform and documents a wide variety of inspections of raw material, fabrication, sub assembly, and finish product from first article production lots and new or modified tool samples.
Evaluate first production assemblies and components, from Curtis manufacturing sites.
Perform and/or direct procedure and instruction audits.
Create training documents on equipment use, as well as creating procedures to be used in training at manufacturing site.
Audit key processes and procedure compliance.
Collect defect data and analyze. Prepare appropriate reports and initiate corrective actions.
Review and approval of ECR/ECN’s.
Reviews documentation to assure accuracy and completeness.
Maintains current calibration of inspection equipment and coordinate measuring machine.
Manage record systems as required.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required
5 years’ experience in electrical and mechanical inspection required.
Experience in the use of Coordinate Measuring Machines (Zeiss preferred).
Experience in the use of Optical Comparator.
Experience in the use of manual measurement equipment (calipers, height gage, micrometer)
Broad background in quality assurance systems and process flows.
Experience in reading and interpreting engineering fabrication drawings.
Understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, ANSI Y14.5 standards
Ability to interpret and apply ASTM specifications relevant to parts produced by; injection molding, die casting, extrusion, and machining processes.
Understanding of materials and fabrication methods. For mechanical parts: injection moldings, die castings, extrusions and machined parts; for Printed Circuits: flexible, rigid, and metal clad.
Ability to interpret and apply workmanship standard, IPC 600, IPC 610, IPC/WHMA-A-620 to bare PCB fabrications and PCB assemblies.
Knowledgeable of Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) approach.
Possess knowledge of AQL sampling selection per internal procedures or ANSI/ASQC Z1.4.
Experience in creation and review of procedures and instructions.
Effective verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills.
Detail oriented and good organizational skills.
Mathematic ability to apply concepts such as trigonometry, fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram or schedule form.
PC literate with experience in MS Office and databases.
