Lead HVAC-R Mechanic

St. Mary’s College of Maryland at Historic St. Mary’s City is accepting résumés for the position of Lead HVAC-R Mechanic. This mechanic is an advanced position related to the maintenance and repair of equipment and facilities including residential and commercial HVAC-R components. Although the bulk of the work time will be spent in the actual performance of duties, employees in this category may be required to work as working foremen and supervise teams of employees and students. Workers in this class receive instructions and report to the Manager for Mechanical Trades and any other designated higher level Physical Plant personnel. May be required to be "on call" for emergencies on weekends, evenings, and holidays.  Employee must be dependable and punctual.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Five years’ experience in the HVAC-R field. Journeyman preferred but not required.
• Comprehensive knowledge and skill in the theory, principles, methods, and techniques used in the installation, repair, and maintenance of commercial and industrial building HVAC equipment.
• Thorough knowledge and skill set of the national electric code NFPA 70, national electric code NFPA 70E, proper PPE, lockout tagout procedures, international mechanical code and manufactures standard recommendations found in manuals.
• Skilled in the use and maintenance of the tools and equipment of the HVAC-R trade including testing equipment such as multimeters and amp meters are required.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Ability to lift approximately fifty (50) pounds.
• Ability to use ladders to work at heights up to approximately thirty-five (35) feet.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and applications.
