Sr. Benefits Administrator
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Benefits Manager, the Sr. Benefits Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the company’s group benefits programs (group health, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, life insurance, flexible spending plan, retirement plans, etc.). This position requires an acute attention to detail, excellent problem solving skills, and provides excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee maintenance of employee benefits files, maintain group benefits database and update employee payroll records.
- Performs quality checks/audits of benefits-related data to ensure the accuracy of all benefit related data in the benefit enrollment system to provide stakeholders (vendors, brokers, finance) with accurate demographic, eligibility, enrollment, and premium information.
- Evaluate and revise internal benefits processes to ensure accuracy of data, reduce costs, and increase efficiency.
- Responsible for weekly 401(k) contribution reconciliation and funding. Performs audits to ensure the accuracy of demographic, employment, and enrollment data between 401(k) record-keeper and HRIS/Payroll system.
- Assists with annual 401(k) compliance testing, audit, and 5500.
- Assists with the annual renewal and open enrollment process, including: census preparation, communications development and distribution, OE system testing, and educational webinars.
- Effectively manages ACA compliance within ADP.
- Monitors Benefits Department email and assists employees and managers with their benefits questions or issues. Provides additional assistance when employees are experiencing issues with insurance carriers.
- Processes and administers leave-of-absence, accommodation requests, and applicable disability paperwork.
- Processes Medical Support Orders in the electronic garnishment platform.
- Processes some of the department monthly invoicing.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of Employee Benefits experience required, ideally in a medium to large rapidly growing organization.
- SHRM-CP or PHR preferred.
- CEBS a plus.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws including leave requirements and other legal protections afforded by the FMLA, ADA, and other applicable leave laws.
- Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to use Microsoft products, including Excel; experience with HRIS and benefits databases.
- Effective planning and priority setting. Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (vlookups).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
