ICF is hiring a Senior Bat Biologist to join our Environmental Planning, Natural Resources, and Habitat Conservation Planning Teams. You will collaborate with an accomplished team of biologists, conservation planners, terrestrial and aquatic ecologists, restoration ecologists, and regulatory specialists. You will oversee and support the preparation of technical documents for Endangered Species Act (ESA) compliance, the development of Habitat Conservation Plans (HCPs), implementation of HCPs, and development of impact analyses for National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents. You will work with other project managers, technical experts, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies to successfully deliver projects on-time with high quality standards.
This position is well suited to someone with demonstrated experience in bat ecology and survey methodologies and who is looking to expand their technical skills, project management capabilities, and work on a variety of projects nationwide.

What you will be doing:
- Provide technical input, project coordination, and/or project management
- Develop technical reports, state and federal environmental permit applications, habitat management plans, and technical studies and sections for NEPA documents.
- Lead focused bat survey team(s) for summer mist net surveys, acoustic surveys, habitat assessments and ongoing monitoring.
- Manage or support the management team with budget control, invoicing, schedule, personnel allocation/planning, technical approach, and subcontractor involvement.
- Perform reviews of colleague or subcontractors’ reports, presentations, technical memorandums, and other work products with a focus on technical adequacy, regulatory compliance, and other specific requirements.
- Work as a member of project teams that are comprised of project management staff, technical experts, and subcontractors where applicable.
- Interact with and lead communication with applicants, federal agencies, and state agencies.
What we need you to have (minimum qualifications):
- BS in biology, ecology, conservation biology, environmental science or related discipline, preferably with an emphasis on bat biology.
- 8+ years of experience in endangered species surveys, analyses, and/or endangered species compliance and/or related experience
- A valid driver’s license and successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check.
What we would life you to have (preferred qualifications):
- Masters or PhD in biology, ecology, conservation biology, environmental science or related discipline.
- 3+ years of project or task order management for ecological or regulatory projects.
- 4+ years of experience with ESA Section 7 and 10, habitat conservation plans, NEPA analyses, conservation planning, biological assessment preparation, agency coordination, and/or scientifically sound assessment of project effects.
- Statistical and modeling experience related to effect assessments and incidental take associated with wind power projects.
- Individual USFWS recovery permit for summer and winter surveys necessary for Indiana bat, gray bat, and northern long-eared bat.
- Demonstrated exposure to various field methods, data analysis, and monitoring needs related to renewable energy projects and other regulatory environments.
