About the role

The Senior Accountant - Fixed Assets is responsible for day-to-day transactions concerning the Company’s property, plant and equipment. This position reports directly to the controller. The Senior FA Accountant is responsible for all capital asset purchase order administration, accounting, and reporting responsibilities associated with fixed assets and Authorization for Expenditures (AFE’s) related to new store and plant construction projects, retirements, acquisitions, and reconciliations of balance sheet accounts on a day-to-day basis.  Essential Tasks and Responsibilities:  
  • Assist in the preparation and completion of all AFE’s (capital and expense)
  • Assisting in the completion of the annual capital budget and quarterly forecasts, and preparing all related reporting
  • Tracking of year-to-date capital spending against approved budgets
  • Prepare weekly AFE status update meeting materials
  • Process equipment retirement requests
  • Reconciliation of annual fixed asset counts to the subledger and tracking of fixed asset values for tax purposes
  • Monitoring costs associated with assets under construction
  • Provide accounting support for inventory management and construction team
  • Familiar with Amortization Schedules
  • Experience with Lease Contracts
  • Preparation of monthly reports: fixed asset continuity, AFE spending report, capital forecast
  • Detailed reporting for assets under construction
  • Familiar with calculating depreciation
  • Entering purchase orders (construction related) and completing receiving of goods into SAP
  • Analysis of open purchase orders and communication with Project Managers on timing of receipts
  • Ability to research and problem solve
Qualifications:  
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required, with 3-5 years accounting experience preferred 
  • Proven analytical skills and strong attention to detail 
  • Knowledge of GAAP 
  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks 
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills 
  • Proficiency in Excel, Outlook, Teams, and ERP systems (SAP preferred)
