Description

 

The Lemuel Shattuck Hospital, operated by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH), is seeking an experienced and dynamic Medical Services Clerk IV to join our team. The Medical Services Clerk provides support to Medical Services by typing correspondence, answering phone calls/delivering messages, overseeing attendance sheets for medical staff, monitoring patient billing, aiding the Chief Medical Officer and designees as needed, scheduling patient appointments.

 

Hours: 8-4PM, Monday-Friday with Weekends Off

Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):

  • Scheduling medical coverage for acute medicine as well as Physician Assistant and Nurse Practitioner coverage to ensure continuity of care
  • Type and distribute correspondence for the Chief Medical Officer and designees
  • Support the Chief Medical Officer and designees by gathering information and compiling data and or reports for compliance with policy & procedure, including but not limited to medical record documentation.
  • Answering internal & external telephone calls, taking messages, making appointments for the Chief Medical Officer and Chief of Medicine
  • Assemble, track, and maintain attendance sheets for contracted medical staff and submit to CMO for review & authorization
  • Submit attendance sheets to appropriate vendor for processing
  • Assist supervisor by monitoring and reconciling patient billing data, provider productivity, and compile reports for providers & supervisors for review
  • Assist and support the Chief Medical Officer and designees in the overall management of their day-to-day schedules, committee assignments and minutes documentation, tasks, projects, and other commitments. Coordinating with referring agencies, hospitals and facilities to ensure that needed medical information is obtained in a timely manner
  • Scheduling patient appointment
  • Assist with Quality Monitoring and Quality activities for medical documentation
  • Facilitating aftercare for patients ready for discharge under the direction of Medical Providers
  • Orders department supplies, maintains appropriate electronic folders and other department documents, requests and follows through with department work orders and other vendor orders

Required Qualifications:

  • Understand and apply laws, rules, policies, and procedures governing Medical Record Departments.
  • Work accurately with names, numbers, codes, and/or symbols.
