Job Description

The NREL Communications Office comprises communications experts in a variety of disciplines focused on raising awareness about the lab and DOE programs. This position resides in the Communications Office’s Creative Service Group, which creates visual and human-centered solutions from brainstorming through implementation.

A Design Associate in the NREL Communications Office works with members of the Science and Technology teams as well as our Corporate Communication team. They have the ability to quickly grasp and distill highly complex matters into understandable and integrated solutions for colleagues and clients. Design Associates work on design and production of communication products for both digital and print media. Deliverables include design mockups and production of visual assets. This position will serve as a point of contact for the Water program within the Science and Technology team and provide additional communication design and brand identity support to other program areas as needed.

While a hybrid work schedule is anticipated, the successful candidate must be living locally and be able to work on-site with some regularity. Relocation assistance is available for non-local candidates.

Basic Qualifications

Relevant Bachelor's Degree and 2 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience. Or, relevant Master's Degree or equivalent relevant education/experience. General knowledge and application of technical standards, principles, theories and techniques. Frequent application of industry concepts and principles. General knowledge of laws, regulations, principles, procedures and practices related to specific field. Skilled in problem solving, written and verbal communication. Ability to use various computer software programs.
