About the role

POSITION OVERVIEW

Alarm.com (ALRM) is a tenured and profitable SaaS company driving innovation in the Internet of Things (IoT) space. We’ve experienced steady, healthy growth over the past several years and established a high-performing and wide-ranging FP&A team along the way. We are seeking an Analyst for our FP&A Operations and Business Partner teams to assist in full-stack centralized financial planning activities across business units.  The ideal candidate will be curious and informed with regards to the latest in finance and industry news, will be customer oriented, and have a history of developing and cultivating relationships outside of the finance department, both with senior executives and a diverse group of functional area employees. This position will report to the Sr. Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis and will work closely with other members of the senior management team to help achieve the potential of our growing company.  In order to be successful in this role, you should possess a combination of strong quantitative abilities, business acumen, project management, and communication skills.

RESPONSIBILTIES

The Analyst’s primary job responsibilities may include but not be limited to:

  • Supporting the long-term P&L budgeting and forecasting processes with a wide array of business unit and departmental leadership while ensuring alignment with the Company’s long-term strategic business plan.
  • Communicate financial results, operational activity, and revenue acquisition performance metrics to subsidiary business units and FP&A management.
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders across the organization to gain insights into cross-functional workstreams, support their decision-making, and help raise the overall level of financial literacy.
  • Contributing to plan execution by not only identifying and monitoring key financial and operating metrics, but also by establishing inter-departmental relationships and internal reporting cadences with business units.
  • Aiding in the production of both long- and short-term operating plans, ensuring strong linkage between the operating plan, short term tactics and long-term strategy.
  • Analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual results against budget and forecasts.
  • Develop and implement methods and techniques to improve forecasting, financial evaluations and analyses, financial processes, and system functionality.
  • Assist with the month-end close and quarterly earnings preparation processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

YOU WILL LIKELY BE A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE IF:

  • You have excellent innate leadership qualities and are successful in matrixed organizations
  • Have a knack for building strong relationships and are confident (yet humble) in social settings.
  • You are a team player and have strong people and analytical skills, including advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • You value being both a mentor and mentee and yearn to be a reliable and tenured partner in the business
  • You have experience with subscription-based business models or a deep desire to learn them
  • You have 2-4 years of experience in an analyst or similar data-centric role
  • You are detail-orientated with the ability to develop, manage, and execute identified objectives
  • You have an undergraduate degree and working knowledge of accounting and financial concepts
  • Bachelor's degree required
