Financial Accounting Intern

Interns will obtain an understanding of the reinsurance industry, SCOR Re’s organization, and the way each entity within the group contributes to the overall success of the organization. Interns will gain general reinsurance and business insight, experience the company culture, and play a meaningful role in supporting the organization’s global and domestic goals. Interns will also develop leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.

The Intern will:
- Learn about reinsurance through on-the-job training with experienced members of the organization
- Gain technical, analytical, and decision-making skills through formal and informal learning opportunities
- Complete special projects or assignments that assist the Finance, Accounting, and Risk Management departments
- Assist with the quarter-end close process and assist with preparing quarterly reporting in accordance with IFRS, GAAP, and Statutory accounting principles
- Network with senior leaders and experienced teammates to develop professional connections and an understanding of the industry
- Receive formal and informal feedback throughout the program
Key duties and responsibilities
- Prepare journal entries and reconciliations for the quarterly close process
- Prepare analytical reports and aid Finance and Accounting departments with special projects
- Assist with quarter-end reporting requirements
Required experience & competencies
Experience:
- Strong academic performance and experience working on a variety of projects
- Previous work experience or internship in insurance or reinsurance industry preferred
- Demonstrated flexibility in managing multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously
- Proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products (with emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint)
Personal Competences:
- Demonstrated leadership aptitude
- Self-motivated with a desire to learn
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
Required Education
Minimum GPA of 3.2 and working towards the completion of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Insurance and/or Risk Management, Business, Statistics, Mathematics, other business, analytical, or data related field, or advanced degree at an accredited college or university.
Candidates must have valid authorization to work in the U.S. without the need for employer sponsorship now or in the future.
