A DAY IN THE LIFE:
A skilled team member who develops embedded software for Tandem's insulin pump products. This role will join a team that releases regular software updates containing new platform features, quality improvements, and optimizations for Tandem’s insulin pumps. This role will focus not only on software implementation, but also preparing feature designs, improving code architecture, working cross-functionally with other teams, and modeling Tandem values.
- Prepares designs, develops, and tests embedded software units per corporate software process.
- Completes assigned projects or initiatives to completion with minimal direction.
- Makes strong contributions to team initiatives and project milestones.
- Participates and shares input through team discussions, design proposals, and code reviews.
- Owns small to medium features and breaks down moderately complex scope into smaller tasks.
- Proactively shares ideas for process improvements with peers and management.
- Creates, maintains, and reviews software requirements, specifications, interface descriptions, and other software documentation.
- Contributes to software test strategy to support validation and verification activities.
- Attends and presents relevant documentation for the Software Review Board (SRB).
- Reviews final project documentation for content and accuracy.
- Independently troubleshoots and solves technical problems.
- Maintains compliance with company policies, including Privacy/HIPAA, and other legal and regulatory requirements.
YOU’RE AWESOME AT:
- Demonstrated ability to develop efficient, maintainable embedded code following best practices.
- Proficient in Source Code Management (SCM) tools, processes, and procedures.
- Skilled at defining and translating high-level requirements into software design and implementation.
- Able to work independently and deliver high quality work with minimal supervision.
- Familiar with embedded software architecture and design patterns.
- Able to assert own ideas and persuade others through consolidating, evaluating, and presenting relevant information.
- Effective communicator and able to lead group discussions.
- Knowledge of Good Documentation Practices (GDP) preferred.
EXTRA AWESOME:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or computer sciences or related field or equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience.
- 4 years’ experience in the “C” programming language on embedded devices.
- Experience with embedded software design patterns for low-power consumer devices.
- Experience in formal software development and test methodologies.
- Experience with software lifecycle development for medical device software preferred.
